The first WE CARE lecture for this year will take place on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 3pm in the Lace Lecture Hall. Students in the WE CARE program are all expected to attend. The President and COO of Good Samaritan Hospital, will give an Overview of the Hospital and its mission and will explain the WE CARE program and give out the Applications for the Shadowing in the Spring. Attendance will be taken and students will need to write a reflection if they are working toward the school credit. Students who are just interested in the lecture may also attend. April 26-28th - we will tour the city, see all the sights, take a day trip to Mount Vernon, tour the Capital building and go to the top of the Washington Monument. Any junior or senior who would like to volunteer to be a tutor for the SJB Writing Center, please see Mrs. Sciara in room 329 for an application. Any senior who worked as a tutor last year need not reapply. Just let Mrs. Sciara know what day you will be able to volunteer. Writing Center will begin on Monday, October 2nd.

The morning printing room 208 will be closed on Monday September 18th. The normal session will resume on Tuesday morning. The We Care Program for the 2023-2024 school year with begin with the first lecture on Thursday, September 28 in the Lace Lecture Hall. For those who aren’t familiar with this program, it is a partnership with Good Samaritan Hospital for students interested in Health careers. If you have already expressed an interest in the program and e-mailed Sister Marie Happ during the summer, you are already in the Google Classroom for We Care. If not, you can email Sister Marie at mhapp@stjohnthebaptistdhs.net before September 17th with your name and grade and you will be included. The list of Fall lectures is posted on the second floor bulletin board near the TV studio.
Stained Glass Club will begin next Tuesday, September 19th. The club meets across from room 315 at 3pm every Tuesday. They started a fun project last year and need help finishing it. Come join the fun!

Students are invited to complete their service hours at the North Babylon Food Pantry Garden with Ms. Fatuzzo on Saturdays, September 16th, 23rd and/ or September 30th. Come harvest veggies, plant fall crops and winterize the garden. NO experience needed. Stop in the Guidance office to sign up. Service begins at 8:30 am -10:30 AM. On September 30th we will work a full 5 hours as we winterize.

National Honor Society Homework Help is back. Every afternoon from 3-4pm come visit members of the National Honor Society in the Library. All students were emailed information about the event and must complete the Google Form by Wednesday September 13 if you would like to volunteer. Attention ALL students: The SJB Dance Company will be holding auditions tomorrow, Tuesday 9/12 and Thursday 9/14. This is a group for students working at the advanced level in dance. For audition requirements and information see the school website under the Announcement section. You MUST email Mrs. Sussman to sign up for auditions. Again, this is a group for advanced level dancers only. Danceworks, the SJB dance club open to all students will have membership meetings later this month.
